Even if you don't care to do your own maintenance, you can get an idea of the potential cost of a repair by looking into the complexity of it before committing to a sky-high repair bill.
We have a Haynes in each of three vehicles and they have saved us time and money.

i like to use mobil 1 oil and oil filters. drain plug torque is wrench tight done overkill it. If it's a 4 cylinder it holds 4 quarts ( with new filter). If it's a v-6 it holds 6 quarts (with new filter).

The check engine light is triggered by trouble codes which means something is wrong with the emmissions systen, transmission, motor sensors etc. A dirty oil filter will not trigger a code. You need to scan the car with an OBDII scanner to get the codes. Once oyu have the codes post them here and we can help you. If you don't have a scanner you can take the car to your local auto parts store, they'll scan for free and give you the codes.

Check all fuses for any blown fuses should be easy to check them all may take an hour but is worth it before accusing the shop of damaging the seats, I doubt it was down to shop it could just be like you said a simple relay or fuse blew.

Did he hook it up to the computer. If not he may be guessing and costing you needless money. Get a second opinion it don't cost anything.

Your 2003 Avalon use a 9006 model light bulb.

It just burn out.

Replace it is very easy.

might need to lubercate throtle cable, or have it replaced.Be careful,this can be a very dangerous problem, even deadly.

I would start with dropping the oil pan to check pick-up tube to oil pump could be cloge.Good luck.

If it's still operating well, it could be a report of a temporary problem. If you drive it for a few "driving cycles" (routine driving and shutting the car off), often times the lights will reset and go out again. If they stay on, a local PepBoys or auto zone can diagnose the light codes for you cheaply or for free.
Try driving it to see if your lights reset first...

Yes. Your dash backlight might be non-operational or you might have accidentally dimmed the control knob that controls this. Refer to you car manual. If this still persists, check fuses and relays and bulbs.

The way I solved my problem with the airbag indicator light is: I took the passenger side seat belt at full retraction and slowly pulled it out until it reached the stop several times and each time allowing the seat belt to fully retract to its normal position. Apparently there are foreign debris (dust, lint, loose hair, etc.) that is interferring with the sensor response and triggering the indicator to come on. All the seat belts in the vehicle (no matter what brand) should be exercised/cleaned periodically to eliminate this problem. Also, as you pull the seat belts out until it reaches its stop to wipe with a lint free cloth as it extends and retracts. Keep in mind that it could be another kind of problem. This solution has worked for me several times.

Your public library will have a manual covering your mechanical repair. Moreover, they have the automotive shops online software called AllData. It is the best auto technician database available today. You can print out specific troubleshooting procedures, diagrams, step-by-step istructions, and soforth. The typical person cannot afford to pay for this service, just automotive dealerships, etc... that is why the public library made it available to everyone and for free to view and print out material. Some auto parts stores (like AutoZone) will diagnose the code for the check engine light for free. If the vehicle is running fine it may be something as simple as a bad oxygen sensor.
