My temperature guage is not
The fan switch and the temperature gauge are not related in any way. Look for the temperature sender unit which should be located on the cylinder head near the thermostat (it looks a bit like a small spark plug). Start off by replacing that as it is the most likely item to fail.

How to unlock a 04 Toyota?
Whether it is the 94 or the 04 Toyota Tercel, your best bet is to call a locksmith if you have locked your keys inside of it. They have special tools designed to reach around the internal components of your door. They usually have to insert a wedge between the window and side of the door to have room to work. Slim Jims and Coat hangers do not do very well. They will usually just scratch your paint and tear up your door gaskets. Your only other option is to forcefully remove the lock cylinder from the door and insert a flat head screw driver or other object to move the lever. You may tear up the door and you will have to replace the lock. Best bet is the locksmith.
Grinding noise when accelerating. I drive a 1994
It sounds more like your wheel bearing. If you jack the car up in the front grab the tire at 12 and 6 and try to wiggle it. If there is movement that will prove to be your wheel bearing or your ball joint. If you have someone look under the car at the ball joint while you do it, you can single out the ball joint and tell if all the play is in your wheel bearing. Usually CV shafts are pretty resilliant, unless they click when you turn the teeth in them should be ok. They will whistle thought if there is no grease in the boot. IF one of your boots are torn and the grease is gone then you can look at the CV shaft. But as far as grinding that is something thats broken or lack of lubrication. Check the CV, but be sure to check the wheel bearing, and make sure the brakes are ok. Unfortunately without being there it makes it a little difficult to be positive. Thanks.
Starts right up, doesn't idle

Any car I ever had which had manual shift and was popping out of gear meant that it was time for another transmission. A junkyard can tell you what years and models of toyota transmissions will fit.
Yes they usually have two shifter cables, pull the console and look under your shifter.
