Y is my lincon towncar gas gauge reading c5

A "C" code is a chassis code, but I cannot find out exactly what that one means. Take the car to your local auto parts store and have them run a free diagnostic test on your OBD-2 on-board diagnostic computer and tell you exactly what the problem is.

1996 lincoln town car well crank but wont start.

The crank sensor wires may be oil soaked, try moving them a little and see if it will start. It's beside the crank pulley on the passenger side. Got my lincoln started that way.

Brake pedal

Excess brake pedal slack is almost always the result of improperly adjusted rear brakes. Get that checked out first, with drum brakes the self adjusters seize up after a while and stop working.

Where is the cooling fan switch on a 1996 town car?

Fan should be controlled by a relay or a fuse. The fan works off a relay which should be inside the power distribution box.
