Trunk will not latch and
The truck pull down latch assembly is powered by fuse #8 in the interior fuse panel above the brake pedal.
How can I close the trunk manually?
Sounds like the pull-down motor is not working. You may need to disconnect the latch and remove the motor or fix it to get the trunk lid completely closed.
Car idles down when you turn defrost on
Check that you car is not climate control as this will turn on the ac compressor as well as the heater to give you controlled temp in the car. If that is the case the idle speed sensor and ambient sensors in the cpu may not be doing the job as the engine speed should increase to compensate for the extra load of the compressor. Have a fault code reading done.
96 lincoln transmission shudders
Shudder can typically be stopped by simply having a COMPLETE trans fluid change including new filter. A quick fix is to add a bottle of friction modifier (can be bought at Ford dealer) to the transmission. Be careful this stuff really stinks. I have used both of these suggestions on two Lincolns (one each) with success.
How do you program the transmitter on a 1996 Lincoln Town Car?
1. Enter 5-digit permanent entry code into the keyless entry keypad. 2. Within 5 seconds of pressing last button of code, press the 1/2 button. All doors will lock then unlock confirming you are in programming mode. 3. Press any button on first Keyless Remote within 5 seconds of pressing the 1/2 button. Locks will cycle to indicate succesful programming. 4. If you are programming more than one Keyless Remote (Including any exsiting remotes) Press any button on second keyless remote within 5 seconds of previous remote. Locks will cycle again to indicate succesfull programming. (If the keypad light goes out before all remotes are programmed the entire process must be repeated). 5. Press the 7/8 and the 9/0 buttons simultaneously on the keypad to exit program mode.

Ok. First of all, chk all the bulbs. Well at least the four parking lamps. The ones that are supposed to flash. One or two are burnd out. It happens. The flasher(s) work on resistance and that is provided by the bulbs.Brake likes and the turn signals are electrically associated.and you already said one side does not work, so let's start with bulb inspection Let me know

Under the hood you may see a Powerbox with a label on top naming the Relays under its' cover. Try switching the EEC relay with the Horn relay if they carry the same part number label. You can try the horn Relay in the EEC position or just put the former EEC relay in the horn position and activate the horn. If the horn fails to work with the different Relay, you can swap the Relays, start your car, and replace the horn relay later. For Relay locations, register your car on Autozone.com and scroll down to the bottom of the page to Help sections. Eventually you will find wiring and fusebox catagories. One section is free and another goes to a pay link.A scanner could also be attached to your car for Diagnostics. They have free scans at most Autoparts stores, but if your car does not move to use them.
