Front Doors Won't Open?
Hyundai sonata have small spring about 3 cms long which corrodes and brakes. When this happens you cannot open the front two doors. you have to unfortunately cut a hole in the door trim and open the door by realeasing the latch with hand and then replace the spring.
My Hyundai sonata 1997 model it has got one of its
check to see if you have seperate fuses for each headlight. Some cars do I have seen a blown fuse make a headlight dim. If not check the wiring harness that goes to that headlight to see if any of the ground wires from that harness to body ground has lost contact, Hope this helps, Leave comment.
Can a sonata bent valves if cam belt snaps
The sonata has a 16 valve machine and works with a timing belt and not a timing chain. if the belt snaps it will bend the valves. not all the valves but some of them. a secondhand top with valves shouldn't be expensive. I would change all the valves. sometimes a valve cen bend so minimal it can't be picked up by the eye. you don't want take the top off again. it's a fairly simple machine. a mechanic should help you with the timing once you're done. good luck
Check Engine illumination indicator comes on ocassionally when
That light indicates that your car's computer has an error message awaiting you. To find out what that message is you must have the computer scanned. It used to cost up to $100 to have a scan done at a dealership but now AAMCO repair shops and some auto parts chains scan for free. Get a free scan if you can and when you have it scanned ask them to reset it which will clear the memory and end the light coming on again unless there actually is a problem. Joe
please rate my answer as very helpful. thanks
The engine starts, but only on low revs
There is no automatic choke. The engine Power Control Module reads all of the signals from the various sensors throughout the engine & cooling system to determine the air/fuel ratio.
You'll need to make sure your tune-up isn't due, that your air filter is in good shape & not restricted , including something being drawn into the filter opening.
You may need to test the pressure of the Fuel Injection system with a set of gauges to determine if the fuel filter or fuel pump are restricting the fuel flow. Fuel filters can restrict the fuel flow if plugged from years of use & not being replaced on schedule.
It's a good idea confirm that the Catalytic Converter isn't restricted (or any other exhaust component).
Generally converters will cause engine overheating, seal leakage, and "rotten egg smell" as they are going bad. A plugged exhaust or converter can keep the engine from having power since the exhaust is not allowed to exit. Usually a small amount of fumes will get by the converter giving a small amount of exhaust even when it is bad.
Your car is OBD II compliant which means that if you have any check engine lights on, you can get it checked free usually at one of your local auto parts stores. They only have to plug in a handheld device below the dash to retrieve any trouble codes that your car has & it indicates what the problem area is. (This only works if you have any codes stored that triggered the "check engine light"., and you haven't disconnected the battery causing the codes to be erased.)
I hope that this will get you started in the right direction. There are so many variables when it comes to cars & the many things that are used to make them perform properly.
Good Luck
