2003 expedition cruise control not working

I just fixed my Cruise control problem. It didn't work at all, no light in the dash either. What had happened was, I had changed the brake booster some months back and when the brake pedal is disconnected from the booster shaft, it allows the pedal to raise too high. It will contact the cruise control disconnect switch to the left of the brake switch. To find the switch, look close and there is a "L" bracket welded on the brake pedal and the cruise switch contacts this bracket. Well this switch is a self-adjusting switch designed to be installed with the pedal at least an inch or so depressed. When the pedal is released it will contact the switch and push the shaft into the switch to the determined setting and it will lock into that position. I was able to pull the shaft out enough to make contact again and it self adjusted like it's supposed to and now the system works great! What made me go to this switch was by checking power at pin 6 (blk/yellow wire) at the cruise servo connection. This connection has 6 pins and the end pins (1 & 6) both have 12 volts. Mine had no power at pin six, which means the cruise deactivation switch is the problem. Older Expeditions had this switch on the brake master cylinder (recall for fires, etc), but 2003 and up has it on the brake pedal itself. Once I figured out where the switch actually was, it was easy to figure out. If you have done any work around teh brake pedal and disconnected it for any reason, you gotta check this out.

where is the smart junction box located and what

where is the smart junction box located and what does it control?

Answer

The 2003 Expedition smart junction box was formerly called a GEM module in previous years. It has relays that control your keyless entry codes, the relays that control the dome lights and the delayed radio shutoff as well as other functions.

On a 2003 Expedition, the sjb (smart junction box) is located on the inside passenger's side kick panel below the glove box. It is most easily accessed by opening the glove box and squezzing the limiting tabs on each side so the glove box can open fully and tilt forward. It is approximately 6" long by 4" tall and about 1 3/4" thick. The part number on the label will be 2L1T-15K602-AN or similar for 2003 Expeditions.

My power third row seat don't work.

My power third row seat don't work, I tested the motors and they work fine when power directly. When I measure the voltage at the connectors I get about +/- 10 volts, from any of the 4 switches. I verified the ground and it seams fine, I disconnected it and used a jumper cable from the ground directly to the battery ground, same result. Is there a different ground then G404 that I am not seing? Both seats go up and down smoothly when powered directly, I don't know what to look at next, any ideas?

Your missing something's G-404 has nothing to do with it !
Seats - Third Row
The third row seat:

  • is three-passenger seat.
  • a 60/40 bench seat.
  • folds down for more cargo area.
  • has optional power fold down seats.
Third Row Power-Fold Seat
CAUTION: To prevent possible damage to the third row seat or the safety belts, make sure that the safety belts are not fastened when moving the seat to the load floor position.
CAUTION: Make sure that no objects such as books, purses or briefcases are on the floor in front of the third row seats or on the seat cushion before lowering the backrest(s).
The third row power-fold seat consists of the following electrical components:
  • right third row seat relay.
  • left third row seat relay.
  • right power-fold seat motor.
  • left power-fold seat motor.
  • right front third row seat switch (if equipped).
  • left front third row seat switch (if equipped).
  • right rear third row seat switch.
  • left rear third row seat switch.
For the third row power-fold seat to operate, a shared ground is supplied by the body security module (BSM) to both of the power-fold seat relays, enabling the seats to then be moved by pressing one of the third row power-fold seat switches. The third row power-fold seat operates only when the vehicle is in PARK and the liftgate glass, liftgate door or any entry door must be open.
The third row power-fold seat motors transfer movement to a drive gear assembly to raise and lower the seat backrest. The power-fold seat motors rotate a short drive cable which is connected to the drive gear assembly.
The relay's are located in Aux. relay box #2
