What do you mean by it doesn't crank well?

Yes it does.The filter is at the back of the intake manifold

Hello.: It sounds like its getting to much gas. Setting a long time could have the float stuck in the carburetor. T would NOT add any booster to the gas till I checked out the carburetor. I would recommend overhaul of the carb and set the timing back where it was. Also check all vacuum lines for deterioration and leaks. If it has a catalytic converter running rich will stop it up.

Heater plugs must be checked all of them. Fuel filter too needs air blowing and air filter as well.This is cost saving.

Make sure you check the fluid, and also, grab your rear drive shaft at the yoke where its connected to the transfer case, and try to move it up and down like you want to pull it out. If there is any play, your input shaft bearing may be bad.

If you wiggle your front shaft where it comes out of the case same scenario. Your output shaft bearing may be bad. If you have no play, be sure to check your universal joints, and also when the case starts to grind, play with the shifter a little bit. Could be linkages as well.

If none of that pans out, you have something broken in the case that is getting trapped in the gears. That is very unlikely unless there is no fluid in it.

the upper control arm bushings, they crack and become brittle causing them to wear out

make sure vehicle is not at an incline, pour some gas thru the throttle body or even better spray some starter fluid

Try this OLD trick.

Next time you go off road, after you made the selector to 4X4 HIGH.

SLOWLY drive backward for 6 to 12 feet.

See does the front axle engage.

Test 4X4 low.

Do you have a thermostat in the system? Either missing or stuck in the closed/open position.

check the fuse or the connection if it is grounded.. or the socket was loosen...

you will need new fuel pump

there is a problem with the tcm may need a reflash

no there aint a easy way to do it...yu will need a new slave cyl

take it to a different mechanic its a bad speed sensor

Get a can of CRC brand air flow sensor from your local auto part store.

ECU may be getting low reading from air flow meter.

Folk use K&N may over oil the filter and coat the senor element with oil.

After cleaning,disconnect and reconnect the ground cable to clear data.

Open gas cap to equalize the pressure.......just is case you soak the emission canister when topping of the fuel tank.
