I am having overheating problems with my BMW

well this depends on what engine you have, i have a 316i e46 and has a 1.9ltr engine, if that is the same it might be the engine thermostat has stuck and need replacing, thats the good news, the bad news is it could be your head gasket, 1.8ltr engines were prone to blowing the head gasket, look in the rad water bottle to see if there is any oil residue in there, and also take off the oil filler cap to see if its a creamy colour thats your worse senario, but its proberbly just the engine thermostat

My key does not open or lock my doors remotely had

You do not say what year your car is, here is standard programming for most bmw,s,after battery or key replacement or malfunction.
Unlock car, enter, make sure all doors boot etc are closed.
Switch ignition on and off, remove key.
PRESS AND HOLD unlock button.
Press lock button 3 times in 10 seconds
Release unlock button
Some models led flashes in key for 10 seconds
Later keys central locking will lock unlock rapidly to confirm reset.
Later keys without led has no battery replacement,as it charges as you drive. So if you have this type charge before reprogramming

I have a bmw 316

might be drain plug washer or could be a leak from higher up the engine. get it cleaned off using some gunk remover and low pressure hose then watch for easier indication of actual leak.

My oil light is on and there is plenty of oil in

Its usually eather the oil pressure sensors bad or the oil pump is weak and does not pump enough volume. If you have a high mileage engine that has not been getting regular oil and filter changes this could be the trouble.

Problem starting E46 320d 2001 "Y reg"

I'm not sure, (because I don't live in your area), how many other shops you have to get your car checked out at, (my guess..not many shops that deal with your car)..like a physician for your health...get a 2nd opinion.

As far as "A Few" metal shavings not being a "BIG deal"..they're only telling you about the filings they actually saw. Depending on your fuel filter size, the ports (or opewnings) that let fuel flow through could be plugged enough to restrict a good flow. The size of the Microns would deterine that along with how big teh filings are, and really...what is causing the filings in the first place.

Diesel is not a really pure form of fuel in the first place, and the station you fuel at could be the main problem, if they're not dispensing good Diesel.

You should always start with the most obvious remedy I'm not sure what 2000 pounds converts to in US dollars, but think about what you paid for the vehicle vs buying a new filter.

Dirty, or partially clogged injectors would also give you the same symptoms.....dirty injectors will restrict the flow of fuel until there is enough Diesel in the cylinder to ignite. You have to remember that Diesel fuel is NOT ignited by a spark, but rather by compression, so if there isn't enough fuel in the cylinder to ignite...it simply won't.

Food for thought about running a Diesel, and I like Diesels alot, depending on where you live, and the amount of driving you do, consider putting your fuel filter on an annual if not bi-annual maintenance replacement schedule. It might cost you a little more for preventative maintenance, but it's a whole lot cheaper then a repair appointment, and you'll llike the vehicle alot more if it's running well.

I hope this short novel helped you out some, and thanks for letting FixYa take a shot at analyzing your problem.

Terry

I know it sounds like a alot, but it really isn't that bad

H,week ago noticed a sound coming possibly

Does it happen when you accelerate and decelerate? If so, it might be a motor mount or transmission mount. If it only happens on bumpy roads, check to see of the battery is held down tight, otherwise I'm at a loss.

Heya, i got a E36 320i auto coupe. its not

this sounds like a water blockage, take off the water hose that goes to the engine block, start the engine, and see if there is water flow going to engine...if this is the problem, then you need to buy an engine flush fluid, and flush out your engine....please be carefull, as the E36 320i, has an aluminium head, and is easily warped by heat
