Just had the valley pan
please explain what you mean by valley pan ,now heard of a dog kennel and pigs tails and trunk for the boot and hood for the bonnet but this is a new one on me ,these bolts can come loose and drop out if they were loosened up for anything and not re-tightened properly but this could have been done before you bought the car ,older models with V belts can and do work loose on their own ,hence a proper service fleet vehicle style to ensure everything is correct and not a dealer style service where its profit motivated by changing everything in sight except a proper inspection

Engine light on.
Hello Wade.
When the engine light comes on in any late model vehicle it has set a code in the computer due to a malfunction in the system.
The code will need to be read with the use of a scan tool or code reader.
Once the code is determined then it will need to be repaired depending on what it is.
Sometimes the code will lead to a direct repair, other times it is only a clue to the next step in the diagnosis.
When you are able to provide us with the code or codes we will be able to assist you further.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Brakes lights don't work 1995
1. Check brake lights bulbs & replace if necessary. Also check the rear brake lamps ground connections.
2. If brake bulbs & ground connections are OK, remove the brake pedal switch connecting plug out from the switch socket. The brake pedal switch is placed above pedals on the brake pedal bracket.
3. Put a direct "hot wire" between two brake switch plug pins, and see if the brake lights work, ignition key in "ON" position.
4. If brake lights work, replace the brake pedal switch.
5. If brake lights don't work, check the brake pedal switch supply wire & fuse coming from ignition switch. If ignition key is in "ON" position the brake pedal switch supply wire, (plug pin), must have around 12 Volts.
6. If the brake pedal switch supply wire, (plug pin), is 12 Volts supplied, check the wire going from the brake pedal switch to the rear brake lamps for interruption & repair bad wire(s).
7. In the most cases the brake pedal switch is bad.
Good Luck!

NEED REPLACE HEATH GASKET INSTRUCTIONS
This is not something the average "driveway mechanic" should even begin to attempt. BMW has made it a habit of using special fasteers that require special tools, as well as special tools to redo the timing after the head has been replaced. If you do not own a torque wrench and the $600 worth of special tools required to do the job, please do not attempt it. You will be getting yourself in much deeper than you anticipate.

I HAVE A BMW 735i I WANT TO KNOW WERE IS THE TRUNK
Go to the trunk and put your key in and turn it all the way to the left and remove the key. This way by pushing the button at the trunk it will open, the trunk will lock when your doors are locked and the trunk will unlock when the doors are unlocked allowing the button at the trunk to work at that time. I'm not quite sure if your system works that way, or Try pushing the button that opens the trunk down by the hood release latch, or, you should have a remote key with the trunk open button on it, it should have 3 buttons, one is lock, one is open the car and one is open the trunk, if you have the automatic opening trunk, this should be the same, and to close it, just press the lock button and it should automatically go down again, as you did not specify what year yours is, one of them should do the trick...hope this helps

How to repair an alternator
you replace it, you do not repair it. your problem is that most parts stores carry only high volume rebuilts so you may play hell finding a rebuilt/exchange part for a BMW. there is a certain price to pay for owning such things and this is part of it, also many repair shops may not want to touch it even if you provide the part. However I am sure someone out there sells these parts, do a google search. Then i would find a foreign auto repair shop and pay them to put it in.
