P2402 on 2009 Clubman - can I fix it myself? Dealer says EVAP detection pump $900pump

That sounds pretty outrageous for a pump that looks like an aquarium aerator (see below)... (less than $80) That would throw the ENTIRE transaction with your "dealer" in question... The DTC = "LEAK" ... How your dealer got from there to the PUMP... would be a great issue to get resolved FIRST. Ge a second OPINION... While you are doing it... check the prices of the units below (two engines listed... I only posted one (non-turbo) http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/mini,2009,cooper,1.6l+l4+dohc,1443790,exhaust+&+emission,fuel+vapor+leak+detection+pump,12040 More Information for STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Z88001

Pressure building in crankcase &

This may be due to the breather system being restricted. Have the system checked by a specialist as some systems are hard to diagnose.

It could be the engine is worn. If too much combustion pressure gets by the piston rings this will cause pressure to eject engine oil.

If the breather is fine then an engine leak down test is called for. This involves pressurising each cylinder and measuring how much air escapes. This involves using a Leak Down tool...consists of two pressure gauges and an air line and someone who knows how to use one.

A compression test will not tell you how worn your engine is. Compressions of 140 to 160 psi are possible even on a worn motor.

Leak Down readings should be below 12%...ideal would be 2% to 6%.... if higher than 20% it means you don't have an engine in there !

Installed Sirius in mini, did

Welcome to Fixya
Here's the procedure on how to preset station for SIRIUS RADIO:
1. Look at how many available presets are found on your radio. Each model has a different number of available presets. For example, the Sportster and Starmate often have 30 preset stations while older models have 20 or fewer.
2 Plan out the preset stations that you want to add to the radio. Before you set the stations get an idea in your head of what stations that you want set for quick access. You can browse the channel guide on the Sirius website.
3 Hit the "Band" button on the radio. There are three bands on the Sirius radios: A, B, and C. Select the band for the preset bank that you wish to use.
4 Go to the channel that you desire for preset. Manually tune to the channel that you want to program into the Sirius radio.
5 Hold down the preset button while tuned to the channel that you want programmed. After three seconds, you'll hear a beep that lets you know that the preset has gone through.
6 Repeat the process for each preset button. Continue to program the presets until you are satisfied with your choices.
