Some times the four wheeler is not in right position for 4x4 to engage safely so it throws it in to safety mode so it don't slam in to 4x4 with grindage an damage that's my experience. If it seemes to work fine when working run it . . Could need service, fluid change and 4x4 actuators,.,vacuums switches tested also ...
every four wheeler I've ever worked on has the ignition timing fixed and controlled by the CDI. Mechanical timing usually invovles lining up the T on the flywheel with a mark on the cam shaft. you'll need a service manual for more specifics.
You need to inspect all gas lines for obstructions including the gas tank , and especially the carb. I can bet dollars to doughnuts that it's a fuel problem something is blocking the fuel and by rocking it it's allowing the fuel to go through. hope this helps , let me know how you make out . Adam J
Have you checked the main fuse? Why did you change out the solenoid? If it was faulty then good enough reason, otherwise these bikes are finicky you need to replace with same type and same wiring. There is only a couple of types.
Try putting the old solenoid back in, if it isn't faulty and see if it starts.
