THE PROBLEM SEAMS TO BE WITH THE THICKNESS OF THE CARPET AND THE PAD-ALL VACUUMS NEED TO BE ABLE TO BREATHE IF THE PAD AND THE CARPET ARE THICK THE VACUUM WILL PULL ITSELF TOWARD THE FLOOR SLOW DOWN THE BRUSHROLL ENOUGH TO TRIGGER THE AUTO SHUTDOWN ON THE MAGNESIUM BECAUSE THE VACUUM CANT BREATHE. TAKE IT TO YOUR LOCAL ORECK AND THEY CAN PUT A FEW HOLES IN YOUR SOLEPLATE AND THIS WILL TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE.

Pushed on the ends where wires make connection and it fixed the problem. Just a dirty contact. When I say pushed I mean lightly

which model XL series do you have? There is obviously something shorted or arcing on the plates of the cell. look at the plates and see if they are laying flat and the wires are all still attached across the front of the cell. A loose, sagging, broken or bad contact on the end plates will cause the bad cell lights. clean off the area where the cell makes contact inside the unit. The metal strips that run across the ends of the cell make contact with the plates inside the cell and get their power from them, dirty contacts in any part of these contacts will cause the problem. Even a bad contact from the end cap to the plates inside the cell will cause this. Try wiggling the cell around, kind of push on it on edge to get the plates to shift slightly and clean the points where the plates touch the outer strips on the sides. Check for arcing with the lights turned off,

No fix. You can order a replacement bag from your local oreck dealer.

This could be for various reasons. Check the power cord and try a different outlet first. See if the power cord is loose or damaged. Next check the brushroll and belt that those are in working order. If you smelt burning or electrical fire or your vacuum made an odd noise before stopping it may be the motor going bad. There are a couple of tricks. One is to put the belt on the shaft first and them roll it onto the brush roller. The other way which I did in my hotel (I had 3 of them) is to pull the brush out, put the belt on the spindle shaft, then onto the roller, the you can stretch the belt with it already in place and lower the roller into place. The belts are stiff.

If the plastic blue clip on your Oreck Magnesium vacuum cleaner has broken, you will need to replace it to keep the bag securely attached to the vacuum. Here are the steps to replace the clip:

1. Locate the broken clip. It is usually located on the underside of the vacuum, near the bag opening.
2. Remove the broken clip by gently prying it off with a flat-head screwdriver or a similar tool. Be careful not to damage the surrounding area.
3. Obtain a replacement clip. You may be able to purchase a replacement clip from an Oreck dealer or online retailer.
4. Attach the replacement clip to the vacuum. The clip should snap into place and hold the bag securely.
5. Test the clip to make sure it is properly attached and holding the bag securely.

I did the same thing and now I need to replace the cell collector. You need to replace it to if the wire is broken. Please let me know the outcome of your problem.

If you removed the bottom of your vacuum, then it's quite possible that the squeegee was not installed properly. On the side of the squeegee that faces up (to the operator) there is a groove that snaps over the baseplate. If the groove isn't snapped ove the baseplate, the vacuum is extremely hard to push (don't ask me how I know and I won't have to lie).

We purchased one of these in April 2009. Same issue appeared with us. Cleaned the cell and the "clean collector cell" still stayed illuminated. Checked the manual and the trouble shooting section stated to hold down the "air revitalizer button" till the "clean collector cell" light blinks three times. After this operation the light went out and all was fine!!!! Hopes this clears your issue!

slow blinking light means the unit is in DRY MODE.. flast blinking light means some sort of arcing or bad power supply.. if in dry mode let the unit run for an hour and it will stop blinking ..

The battery inside the handle is losing connection stick a rubber foot inside to push in battery further
