hot side of the ac power plug (the smaller plug) is not electrically connected to the case of the unit. Take the unit outside on a fireproof base and run an extension cord to it but leave it unplugged

electrical outlet that it is plugged into very warm as well. We have started unplugging the unit unless it is in use. Sometimes, it will even trip our breaker if it is in use. The cord gets very warm.
