If you have a heat pump do not put your blue wire on b. Put it on x or c. If you don't have an inline fuse you may have blown your transformer.

New unit. Goodman air handler, ARUF 61D14AA. Where is O and Y2 for connecting heat pump and indoor thermostat wires, yellow and orange? Thanks

Is this a 2 stage cooling system because only then you will need y2.
You can put any color you like on these terminal but it have to match up with the thermostat for example if you put black on R terminal on air handler then you have to put black on R on thermostat

HE heat pump won't talk with old air handler?

The fact is, the air handler supplies the voltage, blower, and electric heat. In order for the heat pump to work correctly, the wiring from the thermostat and heat pump need to be hooked up right to the air handler. The thermostat is what tells which component to come on. If the fan stops, but the condenser keeps going, you either have a faulty fan relay on the air handler, faulty thermostat or wiring, faulty wiring at the heat pump, or the contacts on the new unit are sticking, which is highly doubtful considering it is working now. I hope I have helped you understand this a little more. Good luck and don't let them push you around, get someone that knows what they are looking at.

WIRING THE THERMOSTAT TO AC UNIT THEN FROM THE UNIT TO HANDLER

Generally, you would go from the thermostat to the air handler, and then, from the air handler to the outdoor unit. I don't know if you have a heat pump or not, so I will give you a simple diagram and you can contact me if you need more.

Thermostat : Y G R W and sometimes C
Air handler: Y G R W and C
Outdoor unit: two wires connecting to the contactor ( not heat pump)

Thermostat; Y--------------Y(air handler cooling)------------------one side of contactor, outdoor unit
G-------------G (air handler, fan)
R--------------R (air handler ,hot)
W-------------W (air handler, heat)
C--------------C (air handler, common)------------other side of contactor, outdoor unit

This is a typical wiring diagram. Just contact me if you have something different. Hope this helps. Stay cool. mark

I have a Ruud air handler and i'm trying to use a

The 44360 tstat can be used for single stage Heat pump use only. Unless you are in an environment that has greater than 40 degF outdoor temperatures year-round, you will want to return that tstat and obtain a multi-stage Heat Pump tstat. The standard system is 2-stage......1st stage is Heat Pump Compressor and 2nd stage is the backup electric heat.

Hope this helps. Good Luck. :-)

Wiring Diagram for Ruud Heat Pump

Unfortunately, the wiring diagrams for heat pumps are not so easy to come up with. The outdoor unit will have its own diagram, but may not include the indoor air handler and will probably not include the thermostat. That said, the orange wire is commonly run from the thermostat to the reversing valve in the outdoor unit. This wire is usually not connected to the indoor airhandler. The orange wire is usually used in a unit that has the reversing valve energized in cool. Ruud, however has its reversing valve energized in heat. Probably not useful but maybe helpful
