The tool needs cleaned thoroughly. there might be a section of a belt that has jammed the passageway. UNPLUG the tool and turn over to see on the backside if the clog is there, if not I would recommend using safety glasses and compressed air to blow thru the channels to dislodge the material. I havae also used a shop vac to help in this.

We bought a used dewalt heavy duty DW430 sander, it does not collect any dust at all, just spews it out all over the place, what could be wrong with it?

I have a sander similar to this one. \Have the same problem from time to time. Usual problems are
1- the feed hole that leads to the collection bag gets plugged up.
2- you do have thew collection bag don't you?
3- the collection bag gets plugged up so no air will go through it. Wash the bag out then let it air dry.
4- it might have the connection on it for a vacuum

Belt sander does not collect dust anymore. I blew it out very well with my air nozzel and it did not help.

It could have a piece of sanding belt in the passageway. What I have done is get a shop vac and VERY carefully run the tool with no belt and put the hose end over the exhaust port, This sometimes works short of disassembly. You might also want to gently tap the side cover to loosen up the dust.

The electric cable has got caught in the sander. How do I unassemble to remove the cable?

Hi Mark,
Hear is an exploded parts diagram for the sander:

Remove the three screws on the handle cover part 23 to expose the cable connection to the trigger switch.

Sawdust does not collect in bag but remains on wood that is worked on. Have tried to locate problem (probably blockage but have not found cause or remedy)

Best way to clear the vacuum path: remove the sanding belt and collection bag. Use an airhose to blow compressed air through the opening where the bag attaches to blow out anything that may be in the airway. After blowing through the outlet, check around the rear of the drive pulley for any wood that may have to be picked out. Reattach everything and try it again. If it still doesn't work, the vacuum is driven by a fan on the end of the armature. You'll have to take the case apart and check that to see if the fan blades have broken off or the fan has come lose from the armature.

1/4 palm Sander is not "collecting" dust even with a new sanding bag, what could be the problem?

Are you using the punch plate to put holes in the sand paper after you put on a new sheet?
If you are it could have an obstruction in the fan guide or the fan has broken fins. Both the punch plate and fan can be purchased by clicking on the below link.

31-735 delta belt/disc sander - dust collection nightmare

The belt cover that does down the front of the belt, below the table, should have an opening inside the baes/vacuum unit. Make sure this isn't clogged with buildup.

Dust collector

dust collectors usually work off the motor via a fan. Either the fan is broken or the bag is blocked up.If the bag is too dirty inside you don't get any airflow through the bag which can stop it collecting. A good wash should do the trick
