Live with it :)

This is a never-ending story of billions of bytes versus gigabytes:

One 'proper' gigabyte is 1024x1024x1024 bytes = 1 073 741 824 bytes
Therefore 698GB = 1073741824 x 698 = 749 471 793 152 bytes = ~749.5 billions of bytes, which is advertised by manufacturers as 750GB, quite incorrectly, but better sounding from the marketing vievpoint :)

Click start control panel administrate tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes

Automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in one box then select check now start then after its finished return and tick the other box you should not

do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive
i have found the best results ticking in one box the returning after it has finished then ticking the other box

it might take some time depending on the size of your disk but be patient

Why does my 250 Gig Passport keep showing up and then disappears, then autoplays again and then disappears? It doesn't stay on long enough to transfer to it or from it. I am using Windows Vista on a...

It sounds to me like it keeps unplugging it's self. The cable to the passport may be damaged and have a partially broken wire or the USB plug in either the passport or your computer could be damaged. You might try using it in another system and see what the results are. Check the cable for any kind of damage to the insulation.

What you will do is press the MENU button and then presses the #4 buttonon the remote and then press "External USB Devices" Tab and press Manage Device. On the top right above "Select All" it will tell you what has been used andwhat you have remaining.

Can't copy files to drive. Says disk is full and it is not.

what filing systems do the passport drives use and how large are each of the files ?

If they are fat 32 and the files are each larger then 4gb then that is why it will not work as fat32 does not support or allow more then 4gb per file due to the filing system so you would need to format it as NTFS if you want to store files larger then 4 gigs

Can't load a 13 gig avi file onto wd drive with 90 gigs free

Typically this is because there aren't large enough fragments to load. Run defrag several times and try again. You might also run the cleanup program and remove any temporary files, temporary internet files and anything in your waste basket before you run defrag.

Please let me know how this turns out.
