Thanks for choosing FixYa. You can change the SMS tone on your Samsung SGH L700. but the format supported is .midi you can download .midi tones from the net or make few of your own. Unfortunately,Mp3 or Wav files are not supported as SMS tones on this model.
For the Samsung corby pro, go to settings from the main menu. open the phone profiles, select the normal profile, then access the uppermost drop down box (which should say incoming call by default) select the new messages option, scroll down to the message alert tone and viola. you can choose from the default tones or even or even upload one of your own by clicking the sound button.
You cant change the message tones to your own ones.
You have to use the 4 provided.... which is one of the bad things about this phone.
However you can change your incomming call tones to an mp3 one etc.
Make sure you change your message alert type to Melody or Melody and Vibration before you get to pick your text alert tones or songs. If I remember correctly, my phone was set to only "Vibration" when i first got it.
You can change them by going to Profiles (Silence, Normal, Car,...) then edit the one you use as default and you'll see a sms tab. There you can change your tone but you won't be able to use mp3.
