Cannot remove outer spool on TB70SS - Troy Bilt Tb70ss Gas Trimmer

The instructions to remove the outer spool are not in the manual as Roy suggest. You need to wedge something in between the retaining clip and the back of the outer spool and pry the retaining clip off the shaft. You can use pliers after you get some space between the two.

When you order the Outer Spool Assembly, a new retaining clip will come with it. install with a deep socket or tap it on with a screw driver.
