If you are watching a tape, simply use the FF button to skip forward until you see that the commercial is over, and then press PLAY to resume playing.
If you are watching a live TV program, the short answer is - you cannot. You need a PVR or TIVO or such device to be able to do that - and even then you have to be time shifted back at least the duration of the commercial you want to skip first!

Image distorted on panasonic nv-fj620

I can't say for certain but it sounds like the video head might have gone. The good news is that you can get the parts from Curry's Partmaster website. Perhaps cheaper elsewhere? The bad news is that video heads are not cheap!

I don't know how you cleaned the head. So I would advise trying again to make certain. I would recommend cleaning with Servisol Video 40 several times. If that still doesn't work I would assume the head to have gone.

I have a Simplicity 7 Series Commercial vacuum that does not pick up well when pushing the vacuum foreward. Picks up just fine when pulling it backwards. Have installed new belt, roller brushes, and brush...

Make sure the bottom plate is installed properly. If it is not seated well the brush roll may not be engaging fully with the carpet. Make sure the wheels on the bottom plate work properly.

How do i record a show onto a tape?

lets say you are hooked up correctly (cable to VCR in (from cable/sat box) & cable to TV from VCR out) and the VCR is set to Ch 3,, (PLEASE NOTE THE TV MUST BE ON CH 3)

program a recording
the VCR clock / date must be set and not flashing 12:00
then you go to menu, program a recording by imputing the start time / end time of the show and the date it will be recorded and Ch 3...(you might have to set your cable box for the same date/time as the VCR or manually turn to that ch you wish to record that morning or before you go to bed) put a new tape in the machine....

manual recording
a show,game or special comes on and you sitting and want to watch and record and even edit (no commercials) put tape in... press record button get the remote so you can pause (on commercials) and press pause again to resume recording

T foreward or rewind. kicks out the tape.

You ether got a bad mechanism, something inside Kids like to stick coins/ Grilled cheese sandwich's in the mechanism instead of tapes or you had a band break.

I would say have it looked at by a VCR repair shop or have a look inside yourself for any objects that might be out of norm.

You will never believe what you find in these units specially if you got kids roaming the home.

How do i hook up dvd recorder/vcr to my tv?

Hello.

If its a combined dvd/vcr unit you should be able to record on the dvd input from the vcr with a 3 split cord connected as described below..

VCR -
---------
Video output - yellow.
Audio output - left and right - red & white.

=========================================

DVD
--------
Video input - yellow.
Audio input - left and right - red & white.

=========================================
Or you might have to use a standared RF cable from the
antenna out on the video to the antenna in on the DVD.

=========================================

Additional information....
---------------------------------

Just as you can't copy commercially made video tapes to another VCR due to Macrovision anti-copy encoding, the same applies to making copies to DVD. DVD recorders cannot bypass the anti-copy signal on commercial VHS tapes or DVDs. If a DVD recorder detects the anti-copy encoding on a commercial DVD it will not start the recording and display some sort of message either on screen or on its LED front panel display that it detects the anti-copy code or that it is detecting an unusable signal.
A DVD recorder can be used to copy any homemade videos, such as camcorder videos and videos made from TV shows, and can also copy Laserdiscs, and other non-copyprotected video material. Also, remember that a DVD recorder also has a built-tuner for recording TV programming directly. The tuner can be programmed to record a series of programs on different days and times, much like a VCR. However, if you are recording a non-copy protected DVD to a DVD recorder you can record any of the video content, provided you click on the menu and start the video segments running and you have enough time space on the disc. DVD recorders function like VCRs in that they can record incoming video signals -- however, they do not automatically copy all the contents of the DVD - for instance, you cannot copy the interactive menu functions of a non-copy protected commercial DVD. A DVD recorder creates its own menu functions, it will not duplicate the function menu from a another DVD.

Hope this will help you.

Commercial Advance feature shuts off vcr.

You need to clean the video tape path my freind, or the machine needs an alighnment. you can try to clean it with a head cleaner, and it might work, but most of the time you need to have it professionall cleaned. If you want open this http://www.bealecorner.com/trv900/trouble/cleaning.html, and it is about the same proceedture with a camcorder to clean a VCR, just take off the top cover of the VCR. Good Luck Please do not forget to rate this thread.

VCR plays for a few seconds and rewinds. Now, the VCR plays tape in fast forward mode

Most everyone I know had problems with the tv/vcr combo including myself. I'll never buy one again. I'm sorry you are having the same problem.
