The alarm is doing what it is suppose to do, disable the car if taken by a unauthorized user. You prove you are authorized by having the remote. You don't have the remote, you are not authorized. Simple.

How to solve: Get a new remote or kill the alarm and loose the protection it provides.

1996 vw jetta alarm wont stop honking and wont start

Obviously you have a car alarm (do you?)
If until now was OK, then you have some problem with the alarm.
Try to disarm it and see what is happening.
Good Luck.

In a word NO,without totally destroying the computerised ignition system.only way is to use the remotes to arm/disarm the system(if you havnt got them you will NEED to buy them and get them coded to the car.takes 30 minites max.to reset see my jetta hints......

Horn beeps as if in an alarm mode

My 4Runner did the same thing. What I did was just put a new battery in hook it up and let it honk. Put the key in the ignition and start it and it should stop. It is in alarm mode.
