It sounds like your 2001 Chevy Tracker with a 2.0 liter engine may be experiencing a problem with the ignition system. If one of the coils is overheating and melting, it is likely that there is a fault with that particular coil or with the circuit that supplies power to it.
Some potential causes for this issue include:
A faulty ignition coil
A short circuit in the wiring to the ignition coil
A malfunctioning ignition control module
An issue with the spark plugs or ignition wires
I recommend having a mechanic diagnose the issue in order to determine the root cause of the problem and recommend the necessary repairs. It is important to address any issues with your vehicle as soon as possible to avoid further damage and to ensure your safety while driving.
Sounds like a bad connection or a bad battery cable. Are the battery cables clean and tight on both ends ?
Yes the engine should crank if the battery is charged no matter what condition the alternator is in.
does it go tick tick tick tick and when it warms up it stops or goes quiet? its your lifters not getting enough oil when u change your oil it will stop till that oil gets worn out you will have to replace the lifters or it can also be a slack oil pump not pumping oil around the engine like it should
