My modem sierra no device detect , and error not recognized. what is the solution ?

Well theres one of two problems here, the device is either not working properly or your usb port/card may be shot... Either or try using other usb ports and if this issue continues then try it on another computer...

What cant be detected? That error usually means that either a peripheral device (such as a printer, camera or MP3 player) or an internal board (such as a modem, network card, or keyboard or touch pad) is not being recognized by the machine. Generally the error will say what it cant detect, something like "Network not detected" or "Unable to detect video board"

You have not supplied us with vital information to assist you. To give you the specific fix we would need Make & Model of your laptop, what operating system you have loaded (which version of Windows or is it one of the Linux systems) but I will try to help you narrow it down.

First disconnect all wires from the laptop except the power cord. Now turn on the power switch. If you get an error, come back and tell us exactly what it says.

Then start plugging in your peripheral devices (printer, USBs, network, camera, MP3) ONE device at a time. Each time you plug one device give it a minute or two to see it that new device is detected. Lets say that you plug a device and it does not get detected properly, you probably should start by reloading the software drivers for that device.

Start with this and write us back and well give you the next steps.

here is the real story. (right?)
its old, NC6400 its really a COmpaq, (hp) circa 2006?
it came with XP not W7,so.... lots of things will be wrong.
it has no wireless at all, no wifi, and for sure no 3G
so you bought the 3G device.
but they are not all the same, is your PC USA PC and is the
MC8775 , the USA version (uses USA frequencies FCC allowed)
"say world roaming" but is complex.
did you contact them and ask for help.
only there hardware and there software works.!

best is to talk to the makers. in all cases , non HP systems.

Hello sir, hi, installing a USB device on windows 98 is kinda hard but possible. here are some things that you should do:

1. you may need the sierra CD device driver that comes with your wireless card.
2. next is that your PC should support USB 1.1 or 2.0. If you are using windows 98, make sure that your USB port is working fine, you can insert a flash drive to confirm if your usb port is working.
3. depending on the setup files they may need you to plug in the device as the setup file loads the driver or later.
4. run the sierra CD setup file to install your wireless card. (hope win 98 supports this device)
5. after the setup, plug in your wireless USB device, windows 98 should detect it.

If things didnt work out as listed above, do it setup several times, ............ still no progress call your dealer for proper installation on your PC.

hi there, windows vista, as we all know is more focused on to the security... but it becomes very difficult if it detects other devices as an error...

With vista you can try to run the installation CD for the router, so that the vista knows that there is a driver for that router, without that it will not recognize the router and will keep detecting as an error...

Is the modem detected on the computer? Go into the device manager by right clicking "My Computer" and click "Properties". Then click "Device Manager". Make sure there is an item named "Modems" listed. Click the + sign next to "Modems". Your modem model should be listed there.

If it isn't listed your computer has not recognized it. You will need to reload the driver for it.

If it is there, right click on the modem name and select "Properties". There should be a "Troubleshoot" button to aid in finding the problem.
