Error code 56 is mostly the motor controller, SD11 & SD12 brown boards, 3 x 332k resistors near the small transformer go low & need replacing with a 1 meg Ohm resistor will fix the problem.

You are a genius!! We replaced the registers with this repair & our mw511 washer is working perfectly now after doing a couple of washes, & after 3 months of it being faulty! It only cost us 50 cents (nz) for a 2pk of 1 meg Ohm resisters ! So you saved us $800, because we were about to go out & buy a new washing machine. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I just did this exact repair and it fixed my problem. My GWL11 washer was throwing a 00111000 which = a code 56. The washer would fill, barrel would rotate, water would recycle from bottom to top but then it wouldn't oscillate during the wash cycle, it just sat still and after a 5 min wait of nothing happening, no motor noises at all, total silence, it would beep constantly and threw the code. I could unplug and power cycle it a few times until the capacitors drained, plug it back in then skip to spin and it would drain and spin out. The fact that it would spin allowed me to exclude the rotor position sensor as the problem.
I disassembled the drum and cleaned out the clutch area which was dirty/silty inside but seemed to be engaging properly and all the teeth in the clutch and spline look okay on all parts so I put it back together.
I checked the pressure tube for leaks and it tested fine with no leaks or kinks and was attached properly.
All of this led me to believe that the main control board was the problem. I thought I was going to have to replace it @ $180+ which did not make me happy so I searched for an alternative until I found this thread.
The pictures aren't totally clear but the three resistors in a row labeled R129 R130 R131 on the board need removed and replaced with a single 1 mega ohm resistor, I used a 1/4 watt, that bridges the entire gap left where the old ones were located. Color code for the resistor is (brown, black, green, gold). I was able to get this at a local electronics shop for 15 cents. A radio shack would probably have these as well. I dont have a lot of experience soldering on pcbs so I took it to a friend who owns a computer/tv repair shop and he soldered it up in a couple mins for me. On a side note, he tested each of the small 332k resistors he pulled out and each tested good, but the repair worked, go figure.
Thank you Greg Stephen for this repair, you saved me a bunch of cash!

Hey, its a great feeling saving money! I did this repair in Sept 2014 & now 2 years later my washing machine is still running perfectly. I'm going to post a comment on each step I took to diagnose & fix the problem for others to read....

Hi just read your posting.Error code 56 means Bowl check fault. If the machine is empty try lifting the bowl where the clothes go and then release. The bowl should lift easily and when released should slot back into place. Problem could also be motor controller.1st check the bowl is engaging when released and reply back on how it goes.If it does not slot back into place the you might have an object or clothes between the tank and the bowl.Looking forward to your reply.

What does fault code 30 mean on a Fisher and Paykel washing machine Model GWL15/IWL16?

it means that the two electronic boards in your machine are out of sync and need to be reset. just turn the machine off at the wall for a minute and then back on. if this doesn't fix the problem, you will need to replace one of the boards, which one is unknown until you try.

Fisher and paykel GW709 error codes 01001111

those numbers suggest code 79, which is not a fault code. but by the sounds of it, you just have blocked pump. turn off and lean back machine, unscrew pump (front right) and clear blockage. you may want to empyt water before unscrewing pump.

I have a 10 year old Fisher & Paykel GWL10 washing machine. Fault code 1 is coming up. The machine turns completely off. The longer it cools down, the longer it goes before turning off again. This...

Code 1 - usually means on the later models of Fisher & Paykel is a faulty Motor Control Module, often though one would have to replace both as well as the display module.

Anyway - it sounds like the electronics are overheating hence the intermittent problems you are experiencing.

Fisher & paykel washing machine fault codes

I have a Fisher & Paykel GW609AU Smartdrive Excellence 6.5 Washing Machine that would start then stop then start then stop a few more times before eventually beeping.
I fixed it by bypassing(joined the white and yellow wire) the trip out switch which is located under the control module(one screw to remove). Now it Works.
