I have an 88 ford 350 and lost the key and it is stuck in off position i am trying to change it but dont know how

Ignition keys you lost?

You should have at least three keys programmed to
the ignition key detector system (First)

It's the solenoid....Follow the positive cable from the battery too...it is connected to the solenoid.
there will be 3 maybe 4 wires...two bolted one or two push on....change this and you should be good to go...

*If* you had the key these are the steps: Insert the key and turn to the RUN position. There is a small hole in the steering column below the ignition switch. Insert a 1/8" drill bit (or something similar size) and push upward on the retaining pin in the hole. As you do this, pull out the cylinder lock. It should come right out. To reinstall, turn the new cylinder to the RUN position. Again depress the retaining pin and insert the switch into the steering column. Make sure the new switch is completely seated & aligned before you turn to the OFF position. This will let the retaining pin extend into the hole.

Because you do not have the key you will need to pick (or have the lock picked) before you can replace the lock cylinder.

You don't without ruining it. I suggest you get a locksmith to make you a new key they can get in there somehow and make a key. In 1988 did Ford use a seperate key for doors? If the doors are the same or the glove box those locks are easier to remove. Also, I've never tried this with a Ford but on newer GM cars if you take the title to a dealer they can make a key from the (VIN) serial number. But, you have to have the title to prove ownership of the vehicle. I don't know if they can do that on an 88 or not. Good luck.

fords are known for wiering problems check the grounds in dash and under hood

Try tapping lightly on the door panel in different places,while the key is on,and holding the window switch in the up position.sometimes,that will jar the motor and the window will work.
