hi. That also happened in my sony ericsson k800. Remove the front cover then clean the scroll cup. Some times it happens if ur phone contacts splash if that doesnt help remove the battery then live ur phone under sun to dry

HI bess elias the number your looking for is in your status . Under options, Go to the wrench icon and the hit the pad and then next you want to scroll down to status. Once you hit the status hi the pad and you show be shown all the numbers you need ,
I'm afraid the track pad has to be replaced. It goes to full bright from dim screen when you touch it. that's because it sense the touch.but can't sense the direction(scrolling).
But, before that, see if a master reset works. Backup everything before that though
