First off try restarting the ipod by holding the home and power button for the first time for at least ten seconds while the ipod is plugged into the computer. Hopefully this will allow for the computer to recognize it.
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. You can also configure your device to erase itself after ten consecutive incorrect password attempts. This setting is off by default. It can be turned on by tapping Settings > General > Passcode Lock.

My ipod is disabled and says connect to itunes but it also says itunes could not... so what do i do?

Step 1:
Apple's iPod Touch comes with a screen lock feature that allows you to set a four-digit security code to prevent others from using your iPod. Every time the iPod locks, you must enter this code to unlock the screen and access the user interface. Entering the wrong code too many times, or simply forgetting your security code, can cause you to be completely locked out. When this happens, you can quickly unlock your iPod Touch.

Connect your iPod Touch to the computer you usually sync it with. When you disconnect your iPod, it should now be unlocked. If Step 1 does not work, you have to restore your iPod Touch. Be advised that restoring your iPod Touch returns it to the original factory settings. This means that all your songs and files will be deleted and lost. You can resync your files to your iPod from iTunes once you have finished restoration. Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes before proceeding. In the left navigation panel in iTunes, select your iPod under the "Devices" section. Click the "Summary" tab and select "Restore." When iTunes prompts you about backing up your data, click "Back Up." In the following window, click "Restore." After the restore process completes, you will see the Apple logo on the screen of your iPod. Leave your iPod connected to your computer until it shows up again on the iTunes navigation panel. Your iPod touch is now unlocked. In iTunes you will be able to setup your iPod. Select the backup you made in the drop-down menu to restore your data files. Click "Continue" to finish the restoration. iTunes: Restoring iOS software

My ipod touch 4th generation says -ipod is disabled connect to itunes- tried that and itunes wouldnt open unless unlocked my ipod and i cant. I tried restoring it and itunes said ipod can not be restored...

"iPod is disabled - Connect to iTunes" . This is because someone(or something?) has tried to crack your password too many times, which causes Iphone/Ipod to automatically disable itself to protect your data.

To restore your iPod, you must connect your iPod to iTunes with your iPod connector table. Make sure it is on and has this message when you connect it to your computer. Once connected, iTunes should detect it as usual.

Once connected, make sure you have all the proper sync settings enabled - for example, applications, music, photos, etc. Change something so that the Sync button in the bottom right appears in the iTunes window. Then sync the data.

When syncing is finished, turn on your iPod / iPhone and you should notice that the message is gone. Type in your password and the disabled message should be gone.

If the message is still there, try holding the sleep and home button at the same time until the iPod turns off, then continue holding the sleep and home button until a screen with the iTunes logo and a picture of the connector cable appears. This will put your iPod in Restore mode. With this option, you must click the Restore button in iTunes, which will delete all your data on the iPod.

Why is my iPod touch disabled for 5009752 minutes

The iPod touch is disabled when the incorrect unlock code is entered too many times. The time the iPod makes you wait increases each time an incorrect unlock code is entered.

There are two ways you should be able to unlock the iPod.
First, connect the iPod to the computer it was last synced with. After iTunes recognizes the iPod, you should be able to enter your unlock code and unlock the iPod.

If the first method doesn't work or you don't remember your unlock code, then do this:
1) Turn the iPod off.
2) Hold down the Home button and connect the iPod to the computer it was last synced with.
3)Release the Home button when the iTunes image appears of the iPod's screen.
4)Wait for iTunes to recognize the iPod and then follow the onscreen directions to restore the iPod.

If neither method works, you will need to contact Apple Customer Support.

Apple notes that the company will not be able to help you unlock your iPod if you forget the security combination. Your only choice is to restore the device to the original factory settings.

How Do I Unlock My Ipod Touch When It Says Its Disabled?

"1. Connect the iPod Touch
2. Press and hold sleep+home until the device reboots.
3. Keep holding until that "please connect me to iTunes"-screen appears

If you get the -18 error, proceed:

5. Disconnect the iPod Touch
6. Close iTunes
7. Reconnect the iPod Touch
8. iTunes launches and shows message as in step 4, but this time, the recovery will work."

Hope this helps!
