My comp crushed the windows xp professional and on reinstalling the recovery version on the toshiba SATELLITE L3000 the sound device was not there.

YOu need to locate your devices TRUE model. Look on your product label on bottom of laptop. There are various models of the L3000 series. Once you have the proper model number (looks like L3000-502I etc) Go to Support.toshiba.com website. Go to DOWNLOADS tab, choose LAPTOP in first box, Choose SATELLITE on next one, and in third box scroll to your actual model number (the real one) and then download the SOUND drivers for your device. This should fix it. Also, you need to be sure and download teh proper version for Windows XP.. dont get the Windows 7 version. I would also make sure that XP is updated to the current SP3 version. To do this go to microsoft.com and run Microsoft Update.

How do I install windows xp pro sp3 on my Toshiba L355 S7812 laptop? Each time I try to install windows setup can not find the hard disk.

Check in your bios if it sees your HDD in there, typically it is F1, F2 or DEL key while posting.
Is the laptop running an OS?

Downgrade to Windows XP.

Due to the fact of the many people that wish to downgrade to Windows XP, many computer distribution companies keep current driver software that is compatible with the various Windows OSes. I checked the Toshiba website for drivers for the Satallite A205-S5809 and they have drivers for WIndows XP, XP SP2/SP3, Vista 32-bit, and Vista 64-bit. They have all the drivers you should need to make the changeover. I hope this helps.

Error measge saying no media device

v01t2

I found I had lost my sound and at 1st tought it was an audio based app but later found it was drivers installed via windows update. The only driver that works is the one from the Tosh site for the original hardware. After you have installed the driver run windows update manually and uncheck the line for the sound card update. This is remembered and auto updates does not apply it next time.
