Most dehumidifiers have a defrost cycle that they run through, as needed. But, apparently, your is not functioning. Eventually, yours will stop collecting moisture, if this continues. In the interim, I would suggest turning the Master OnN/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit until it thaws. While it's unplugged, remove and clean the air intake filter on the front of the unit. If it's clogged it causes the unit to strain and may cause it to ice up. Once the filter is clean and the unit is un-thawed. Plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and set the controls as you normally do. Hopefully, that period of being unplugged will have allowed the unit to reset itself and work properly.

I have included a link to your Owners Manual that you can download and print for future reference.

Humidifier does not turn on

if your saying that the voltage drops to around 4 volts at the supply transformer at anytime , then id say the load (device connected) is too much for the transformer to supply this most likely is caused by an internal fault in the load (humidifier) also since its a water appliance id say a water leak might be a factor in that as well , taking a look under the cover of the humidifier 4 signs of a water leak (or past one) would be where id start

Water does not fill in the Aprilaire humidifier on my furnance

It sounds like the feed has been shut off or pluged. Be sure the feed is off, remove the feed from the humidifier. open the fill valve slowly and run water into a bucket or whatever. If it does not run you found the problem, if it does then it is probably the fill solenoid valve on the humidifier.

The dehumidifier is getting cold condensation on the top outside of the unit and no water in the bucket. Model BGD-510A. I cleaned the filter and the coils and still have this problem.

Kathryn, if you are operating it in a basement application, the problem is that air temperature at floor level, is colder than at shoulder level. Dehumidifiers struggle to work at temperatures between 40 & 65 degrees F (Unless they are Low Temp model designed for basement applications). And will ice up at times. Raising the unit up off the floor onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc that can handle the weight of the unit, plus a full bucket of water, will usually resolve the problem.

If it's not a basement application, try lowering the humidity extraction level to 35%. In you have an analog unit, turn the control knob to Maximum.

I hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

When my dehumidifier is on, it says there is 90 humidity. I come back an hour later, it is still running and no water in the bucket.

Hello,

If there's no water in the reservoir, first make sure that water is getting to the humidifier. The humidifier must have a good stream of water available to it. If there's water in the water line but the reservoir doesn't fill, replace the float mechanism inside the humidifier.

Take care.

Water is no longer collecting in bucket, but appears to leak out of humidifier. Humidifier also ices up.

Basically there is a drainage blockage from the humidifier to the bucket. Take one for the boys and **** hard on the pipe which very possibly will release the blockage.

Humidifier Runs but no water collected

Are you talking about a dehumidifier or a humidifier. If you are talking about a dehumidifier, it works by blowing air across a cooling coil causing condensation and the water will drip and pool. The cooling is caused by a compressor working like refrigerator, but using the effect to dehumidify. To check if the cooling coil is working there will be a metal can like in it with tubes in and out. One of the tubes should be warm(input) and the other tube should be cold, if not your compressor is not working. If freezing up, low freon. Check to see if the compressor shuts off very quickly, that would be too much freon. This is not user servicable. Now a humidifier works several different ways. One way is a fan with cloth belts rolling through water using evaporation to humidify. Another way is for a circular fan like on a motor to turn. It has a hollow piece into the water. It picks up water and then through centrifugal force aerates. One way is for a sonic humidifier. All the types have a problem with eventual calcification or mineral build up in the water handling paths. Lime-away or Concentrated Lemon Juice will dissolve this. The lemon juice is the most fun. It will turn your toilet bowl white and also remove rust stains from laundry...
