Oil pressure gauge on 1997 jeep wrangler 4.0 is coming in. shows no pressure at zero. changed sending unit, and filled oil to full but still is coming in. also when at 55 or higher mph, pressure is below 40#. could this be the gauge its self. engine makes no noise when showing zero. also temp stays about 220. anything to worry about.

Check it out manually with a pressure gauge ,could just be a high resistance or something ,but check with a manual dial gauge and if low check put the oil pump

probelm by the sound of it ,if engine doesnt knock or rattle then its the sump off and renew the oil pump ,answering questions on fixya i have noticed that these jeeps do seem to suffer with oil pump problems ,drop the sump if you can and then check the gauze filter on the end of the pump if its clean then renew the oil pump but if its full of black grime which is caused by not changing the oil then give it a good clean and try it again as it wouldnt be the first time i have had this problem with quite a few different makes of car.I always recomend changing oil every 6000miles tops and a oil filter every third oil change and use the cheapest diesel/petrol oil you can buy ,these long life oils do not do a engine a lot of good

Oil pressure guage not registering

The oil pressure gauge on a 2004 WJ doesn t really show the pressure, but it will go to a preset value when pressure is ok, or it will stay at o PSI. So you need a pressure switch on this jeep and not a pressure sending unit. If the right unit is installed, then or the pressure indicator is faulty, or wiring. Do a test of the instrument panel to see if the indicator works: ignition switch in off, press the odometer reset button and now switch ignition in run. Instrument panel will start a self test, all lights will come on and all meters will go full scale and return to normal.

The oil light on my 1998 Camry is on but I just got the oil changed

If it is the oil pressure warning light showing, the next thing to do is to remove the oil pressure sender unit and screw in a gauge to see if the sender is at fault.

After that it could be that the over-pressure relief valve in the oil pump has stuck open.

You can try a new oil pump, but in my 30 plus years 99 out of 100 your bearings are gone! you would have to pull the oil pan to do oil pump so i would pull 2 or3 main crank caps and check bearings if badly scrached or copper spots showing through aliumun coating there is your low oil press. probiem.you will need a new motor sorry. Oil pressure gauge not reading on my 1994 jeep wrangler. oil is full just the guage has no pressure and not alot of power

The oil pressure specification for your engine is 13 PSI at idle hot, 37 to 75 PSI at engine RPM higher than 1600. I suspect your oil pressure gauge sender unit or gauge is inaccurate. I would have a known accurate mechanical oil pressure gauge temporarily screwed into the present oil sender unit to verify actual pressure.

If you have the correct pressure I would replace the sending unit first.

Oil pressure gauge goes up when car started, but then down to 0

u Have a problem with the oil sending unit. The sensor is located beack right side of the engine block. Take out the switch and make sure u have good oil PSI. Should be 6 psi at idle and around 50 at 4000 RPM. If the presure is ok replace the switch they are very cheap about 20 bucks. Please rate.

2002 2.5l no oil pressure on gauge. Runs fine...no

You better put a manual gauge on your engine and make sure you have oil pressure. Could just be a faulty gauge or sending unit but I sure as heck would be checking it with a manual gauge.

The check gauges light is normal because at 400 rpm it isn't running fast enough to build sufficient oil pressure. I am guessing maybe a vaccum leak???

1997 Jeep Wrangler oil pressure gauge not working

The gage is working because it is coming on sometimes. The oil pressure sending unit on the engine is starting to go. I would replace the oil pressure switch on the engine first.
