I have a 1997 jeep grand cherokee. When i come to a stop the oil pressure gauge drops from normal (half way) down to nothing. Then when I give it gas and go agien it jumps back to the normal spot. I have checked the oil and it is not low. There is no knocking sound coming from the engine.
Can anyone help me out?
I had the same problem with my 97 Wrangler 4.0..Change your antifreeze, replace with some new 50/50 mix...Also chanke your oil, replace the filter with a mopar filter and use stratght 30 weight motor oil...Solved my problem
It sounds that the sending unit is not
operating well, replace it and go from there.

First, check the actual oil pressure by installing a mechanical gauge on it...Often your sending unit can give false readings. If actual pressure is low, you need to go deeper into the engine to find the cause. (most low pressure conditions are caused by obstructed pump screen or worn engine bearings.) If gauge shows good pressure, change the sending unit.
