This is a problem with the Theft-Loc system. I believe you will have to take it to the dealer to have the radio unlocked. I found this procedure on the web, but I don't know if it will work. Good luck.

1. Turn the ignition ON (The radio should display "LOC")

2. Hold down the Radio Presets 2 and 3 buttons for six seconds

3. The radio display changes from LOC to a three-digit number. Write this number down. You now have fifteen seconds to complete the next step.

4. Press the AM/FM button

5. The radio display changes to another three-digit number. Write this number to the right of the first one.

6. You now have a six-digit number, the first three digits are from STEP 03 and the last three digits are form STEP 05

7. Call 1-800-537-5140

8. Press 1 then # (pound). You'll hear "Invalid Code, try again"

9. Press 139010 or 106010 or 206010 or 202107 then # (pound). You will be asked to enter your four or six digit code followed by *

10. Enter the number from STEP 6 then *

11. Listen to the four-digit number and write it down. It will be repeated twice

12. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC)

13. Use the MN and HR buttons to enter the code from STEP 11

14. Press the AM/FM button. The radio display changes to "SEC". Your radio is now "un-locked" and usable.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. If you have had the battery disconnected or it has lost power, you probably need a radio code. You can call the dealership and give them your VIN number to get the code. Some dealerships require you to go to them to get the code. It is possible it is in the owner manual but if not, call the dealership.

Radio fuse location 2006 incoln towncar

Some makes and models, if battery voltage is lost, the radio may go into theft lock? If that is the case, your local dealership may have to fix? Look at your owners manual, see if it says anything about radio theft lock?
The wiring info I looked at was for radio w/o navigation, note the fuses.

How to fix radio lock ?

Dial in the correct code.

Sorry, but radio locks are not easy to crack and may require specialist services in order to achieve. Don't take the advice of people who recommend putting the radio in the freezer for extended period of time. This can often simply damage the stereo components.

My radio locked

Simple to fix!

Go to a dealer of that car (eg. Ford, Holden, BMW etc.)

They will fix you up.
There is nothing I can tell you right here.

My 2005 chevy cobalt factory radio is locked

There are only 2 things you can try to fix this yourself: turn off the engine and open the driver side door (to turn the radio off). Wait 5 minutes, start your car.
If that does not solve it, turn off your engine, disconnect the car battery, wait about 5 minutes. Reconnect the battery (negative pole first - black connector) and try your radio again.

If neither one of these two fix your problem, I am afraid only a GM service center or dealership can fix the problem. The Cobalt is notorious for all kinds of electrical issues.

Thanks for using the fixya forums!
