Briggs & Stratton Intek govenor shaft and gear is gone. Can I get another Shaft put in?

    I mean the govenor shaft holds the govenor gear works off the cam shaft

There is not a part number for that part. It is pressed into the case. In order to get it you have to buy the whole case. Get a shop to make it. I had a friend turn one for me.

g o the governor arm that stick out the side of the motorl and lossen the nut holding the governor arm and with a pair of pliars turn the shaft counter clock wise as far as it will go while holding it push the long lever towards the carb and hold it.. That's it there and tighten the nut

Engine races

One thing I read is that on some the arm from the govenor shaft can slip on the shaft so the arm is rotated on the shaft to a point the govenor isn't even in contact with the internals driving the shaft. On those units a clamp bolt becomes loose causing the problem.

I suspect if there IS an internal problem it is severe and one would have to disassemble the engine before operating it lest damage occur from loose parts.
