2007 Volvo Xc90 D5: I have a Garmin satnav and a Nokia cellphone, both of which used to work on my Mercedes, using the cigarette lighter socket and a "Y" plug to enable both to be on charge together, or individually. In my recently acquired Volvo however, neither devices accept the charge. Is this because the Volvo cigarette lighter has a timer that prevents continuous connection? How else can I attach the satnav and phone to the car's power system?

Spin or replace the fuse as the old aluminum fuses build up corrosion and dont work, or work on and off.

If its an after market radio check by removing unit and checking for fuses in line.

Usually call "ACC" or "ACCESSORY"on most fuse blocks. Also sometimes attached to "RADIO" or dash lighting. You can buy a fuse tester inexpensively that you can test the fuses while installed to see which one is blown, thus finding the elusive problem.

I have seen car chargers that would blow the fuse. They were shorted out so look in the fuse box and replace the accessorie fuse and retest

• There are two fuses that go to the cigarette lighter. Look for the blown one or replace one and then the other just to make sure.
• In the passenger compartment fuse box look for -

1. Fuse F1 - 10Amp - ACC+
2. Fuse F1A - 10Amp - Batt+
