I believe it is actually a memory capacitor that has to be replaced. It is soldered directly into the board and requires quite a bit of know-how to replace.

Hope this helps,

Thanks,

SOURCE: Help me to resolve a problem with my harman Kardon HK 3380

I'm having the same problem only difference is I baugh my product new, i love my reciver when it works I'm convinced the product is built like everything else these days cheap with no pride, designed to malfunction so hard working Americans like myself pull out of pocket to replace the product being a different brand or what, cuz large corporations repeatedly screw the little man time and time again for years and believe me folks it's only gonna get worse if the little man sits back and does nothing.. I personally do NOT recommend this product costumer service with this product also burns my as# it's a waste of time on your behalf.. Thanks for reading hope to hear from many of you.

You may be using the wrong procedure. Some receivers require you to manually tune to the desired station, then press memory.

Harmon kardon hk3270 shuts off after only being on about 10 sec

Disconnect speakers and wires. Bad wiring or defective speakers may be loading the amp down and causing the protection circuits inside to disconnect (no sound). If the HK is heating up (beyond what you perceive as normal) with no wires or speakers connected then you have a problem requiring expert repair.

Greetings - You need a Radio Shack 270-1062 3/4 amp slow blow fuse or equivalent. Any .75-1 amp fuse of the same size should work fine.

Regards and Good Luck.

Thanks for using Fix Ya.

One speaker output does not seen to work. All wires are tight.

Check for a cold or broken solder connection inside the unit. The left and the right channels are almost identical circuitry. Compare the good channel to the bad one.

My Harman Kardon receiver Type AVR 500 RDS sometimes loses its memory. This means that all radio frequencies and adjustments have to be done all over again. What can be the cause and can it be solved?

Are you turning off the hard power?

They have a memory capacitor that can be replaced, this is the most common problem. Luckily it is a rather inexpensive fix, assuming it is the capacitor.

Do you leave it for long peroids of time turned off?

Hi Javis. This is perfectly normal ! This mode change is done because the receiver auto detects the digital audio signal and sets the receiver's DSP to decode the signal correctly. You can go into the OSD menu to bypass the auto detection of it, but it's not recommended at all ! You're getting the best audio quality by doing so. Thanks ! cheebster.
