Most drivers will be installed. Upgrade XP with the Microsoft Service Packs 2 and 3.
If still requiring drivers, find out the device that needs drivers and go to the manufacturers website for them

Recommend removing OLD DOS Operating system First. Then Install Windows XP. XP will NOT upgrade older systems unless it's Windows 98 and Fully Updated. However, can NO Longer do because Microsoft does NOT support any versions other than "2000/ME/XP/Vista".

Ok it must be one of this problems:

1) you had vista, you wanted xp for whatever reason. you are doing a fresh install using the service pack 3 disk. there is hardware combatiblity issues and must stay with vista. this is becoming more common with the life of xp coming to an end.

2) you had xp and are reinstalling and hardware has failed.

3) you had service pack 2 or before and are updating your service pack and there is some issue with hardware or software.

try installing with registerd versions of windows and you will be able to sort ot out,

Try downloading below driver for your sound.

and be sure, if you hear windows sound which rebooting windows then you have no problem with Audio driver.
if you don't then you have problem with sound driver.
