It is an audible alert that it has come 'online'. This is the same sound you hear when the wall power goes out and your UPS supplies the power to your computer. It is meant to get your attention, in order to deal with any problems that may have surfaced.
Good luck!

There is a telltale sign that goes hand in hand with electrical component failure: The smell of electrical fire, or burnt components. Get down by the UPS, and smell it.
If there is any sign of burnt smell, then power down everything, unplug everything from the UPS, and the UPS from the wall. Open the UPS, and remove the battery while inspecting for charred or blackened residue as well as damaged parts internally. Be very careful not to touch the components on the circuit board to be safe. With the UPS unplugged from the wall, does it stay powered on? If not, the battery and the charging circuits have been damaged, and/or the battery has been compromised and should be replaced.
Seek a replacement for the UPS if there are damaged components or possibly a reputable repair shop *IF* the UPS is worth repairing. (ex: is it fairly new, and of a quality construction, or is it disposable?)
Good luck!

The sound was like like lighting a fire cracker. It is not same as to the sound I hear when the wall power goes out and your UPS supplies the power to your computer. There must be some other cause. Plz help me to find it out.
The same problem occurred today after a long gap. There was no burnt smell form the UPS. The UPS still works normally after it burst. When the UPS is unplugged from the wall, it still gives power to the PC. The battery in the UPS is a new one which I got replaced recently. Why is it bursting with a sound and tripping the power?
