As it is a vx engine going into a vs frame Suzuki may have used a different wiring harness to allow for differences in engine layout and the electronics fitted.
Is the engine the same age as the frame it's going into? Age differences can also affect the wiring layout.
You will need a wiring diagram for your bike and a separate one for the replacement engine. You will need the layout of the engine sensors as well.
Keeping in mind that some motors may be different
The most common wire colors on a 3 speed motor are as follows:
Red- Low speed
Blue- Medium speed
Black- High speed
Brown capacitor wires ( usually two of them connect to the two capacitor terminals doesn't matter which wire to which terminal)
White - Neutral wire on 115 volt systems or the other 115 volt side of a 230 volt system ( note on a 230 volt motor this wire may not be white). Remember this is the most common wiring but different motors may have different wiring.
Hope this helps.
sometimes its the speakers that will smell mine always did but the different size wire will certainly make a difference and could passably be your problem
2) Usually a bad switch is replaced. Buy another 3-way switch. New switch will have 3 screws (plus green ground screw which is not discussed further). On new switch, 1 screw will be different color from other two screws. Same thing with old switch: 1 screw will be different color. Take wire on different color screw and connect to different color screw on new switch. Other two wires can connect to either screw.
You posted under PB digital timer module. This timer can be wired different ways and with different voltages. Contactors (relays) can be wired different ways and coil voltage must match timer voltage. Since 1995 is OBD I and a 1999 and 1998 are OBD II for smog then I would venture a guess that the newer one has some sensors that the 1995 model doesn't have. So the wiring is most likely different from the '95 to the '98/'99...the '98 and '99 are most likely the same as each other.
Wire set? May be best to post this in the 2000 Discovery section, not 1997 as they are different models (not just different model years) and the wiring will be different.
