Thanks for the reply. I took the sub to Best Buy and had the guy look at it - not surprisingly, I couldn't replicate the problem once I was there. It was working fine at that point and he thought maybe the sub got a little too hot and just shut down on its own. It's been fine since then, so hopefully that was it. Still, for others the voice coil may have blown so good to know that could be it as well.

That popping you hear is most likely the voice coil blown and your not going to get much out of it now. Discontinue use of the unit so it doesn't blow the amp, and you can get the sub replaced if you don't want to toss it.

Same. Just started a week ago. Today it actually cut out for 15 min. Taking it to Best Buy to get it looked at (they did the install 9 months ago).
