Hello
Have you checked its speaker wire connections for any short with the body of your vehicle? Sureley, the problem is of some type of loose contact. It may be in itw wiring or its internal circuit board or connecting scockets. Check these well. You states that, theere is no problem when the vehicle is not running. That means, when it runs vibrations will occur, and these vibrations may cause the problem you reports. Check it well once more. If you wants furthermore assistance, get me by Fixya. Ok.
Did you use a factory wiring conversion plug? or did you cut the wires and just wire it direct to the kenwood? you may have the ground wire from the radio hooked to the light wire and not the ground the light wire will test as a ground until you start the van.
check it and get back with me.
This sounds like a voltage problem. If this is only happening when the engine is running you need to check the voltage when is running verses not. You could have some A/C bleeding from the alternator or the alt. voltage is to high at the radio power hook up. Check into a capacitor to install in the power circuit. If the Alternator voltage is getting above 15 vdc the radio is protecting itself by shutting off, its clipping a diode.

This didn't happen with the factory radio. Would that matter in this case?
