If by locking up you mean freezing you may need to reformat. If however you mean it keeps making you re-enter a password you have to go to the control panel and go to user options and change the power settings and turn off any plan you have.

My laptop keeps locking up. What can I do

Boot in "safe Mode" using the proper function key for your Gateway... usually F6. Just old it down when booting up until the safe boot screen appears. Select "Safe Boot with Networking". At "Start" type "cmd" ... a new screen will appear, type in "chkdsk/f" without the quotation marks and wait until your PC fixes itself, be patient. Reboot and it should be fine!

Have a dell laptop but it doesnt start when i push the power key a little lock with the letter a inside blinks what does this mean then the computer shuts off by itself

That icon is the indicator for Caps Lock (aka Shift Lock). When in the operating system (Windows), you can turn the icon on (or should be able to) by pressing the CAPS Lock key, and turn it off by pressing the CAPS Lock key again.

My keyboard keeps typing numbers where there is letters on my laptop, can you help?

hey there, I am not sure what kind of keyboard you have but try pushing the "fn" button or press "fn" and num lock at the same time or just num lock by itself. If you don't have num lock, you may need to plug in an external keyboard. let me know how you make out.

Computer locked

there are combinations of function or "hot keys" for enabling or disabling these functions. The NuLk is a combo of the functin key and the NumLk key pressed simultaneously. The scroll lock is the one keeping your mouse from working properly. I'm not familiar with your particular unit to advise which keys are necessary to disable Scroll lock, but they should be marked. Also, some notebooks have a switch to disable the mousepad...Usually indicated by a light located above the pad itself. Good luck Harvester3
