When connecting the FE 280 to my imac OS X 10.6.6 the iphoto opens but only recognizes the memory, and not the xD card, so no photos on the card can be transferred to iphoto. does anyone know how to remedy this? thanks!

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.


The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.


Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

A camera memory card should always be formatted IN the camera.
Do not format camera memory cards in a computer card reader.

If the card is formatted in the camera and after that the same error pops up,
you should replace the memory card and recheck.

It's not supposed to. The FE-280 uses xD cards, not SDHC cards.

Use a card reader.

First of all, do not save any new file to camera's memory card.

Take out memory card, and connect it to a Windows computer using a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.

I went to Olymbus website to find the driver for the FE-280 Digital camera and it states, no software availble at this time.

They show the camera on the website and I know there is a driver for it, but they are not supplying the consumer with it. Bad choice for Olympus.

The FE-280 may not recognize non-Olympus brand media or a card that has been formatted on another device, such as a card reader or personal computer. You may be able to use the card if you format it in the camera.
Warning: Formatting a media card will delete all content on the card.


When I put an xD-Picture Card™ flash memory card into my camera and turn it on, I get a “Card Error” message. What can I do?
This message occurs when the camera is unable to recognize the memory card or when an attempt to format a card fails.
