The only solution is go into acer's driver download site and find out if your make and model supports Vista, if yes! the DVD driver should be available, if not that will be a problem.
re-install the cd of drivers. Alsuo check your registry values and settings, values might mave got changed due to virus infection. You can go to register editory by typing regedit in command prompt.
Not possible at all. To install XP or Vista again, you need a CD/DVD drive working.
(or)
Contact Aspire(or local technician) if they can ship a XP/Vista pre-installed Hard-disk.
again this is a classic vista problem, i have worked with vista machines for a while now and still i can't find the reason vista does this. I did find a soloution that worked on a few machines but not on all!! i put the computer to sleep and woke it again using the on/off button and it came back. try this !!!
Do you have the product key for Windows Vista - it should be on a sticker on the side of the computer.
If so, you can try the following:
Borrow a friends DVD for Vista and enter your product key when asked. This will automatically select the correct version of Vista as all version are stored on the same DVD.
Download the latest driver for dvd rom from Acer that will work with Vista SP1. Also try uninstalling the device in device manager and restart your computer. Vista may find "new hardware" and install the driver from its driver pack in SP1.
