Internal Harddrive giving hissing sound.and not booting. Model: western digital WD5000AAKS 500gb SATA internal drive. On PCB it says: 2060-701640-002 REV-A Recorded sound .wav file: http://www.4shared.com/audio/G0xM0qrf/ext_-1.html Question: 1)From the sound, can we tell that it is from any component? Does it tell that the motor is not spinning and it is probably a motor jammed up problem and NOT a head problem? 2) Will the 5 hour freezer technique work for such situations?

Thats why,..I am trying to find a way to recover data or anyway to fix it to retrieve data. Appreciate any suggestions in finding what coulkd be the problem based on sound. The sounds harddrives make when they fail are generally specific to make and model. You're probably best trying the freezer trick (remember to place in a water tight bag with all the air removed, to avoid condensation!), or a professional recovery service.
