I am picking up wi-fi but do not connect to the internet

I see no problem in that. As long as you have internet access and wi-fi it should continue to work. You will have to pick a wi-fi to connect to which is no problem. The kindle will locate all available access in your area.

try to connect via lan cable.if u get online then look for wifi switch !

Ok,here's the solution,I have my lap top about 100 feet away from my router,have a man cave,I have it plugged in always and when the wind is blowing,my signal will get lost and I get the same reading as you do,but it picks right back up,it's the signal,my vizio,smart tv is connected by wifi and I loose my signal there too,Here's a video to watch,enjoy.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf1UgEJq8NY

To get on the internet, you'll need Wi-Fi. Presuming you do have Wi-Fi, go into the 'Settings' application on your iPhone, at the very top you'll see 'Wi-Fi', in that section you'll see a list of networks that can be found, pick your connection and then enter any information that it asks such as security password for your network.

You have to ocnnect your iphone to internet first , Follow below step to connect to internet

When you use any Internet enabled application, iPhone does the following in order until connected:

1. Connects over the last Wi-Fi network you used that's available.
2. If no Wi-Fi networks you've used are available, shows a list of Wi-Fi networks in range. Tap a network and, if necessary, enter the password to join. Networks that require a password show next to them.
3. If no Wi-Fi networks are available or you choose not to join any, iPhone connects over the cellular data network.

Note: You can be on a call and use Wi-Fi or 3G1 at the same time. Other cellular data networks are unavailable while you're on a call.
Wi-Fi

• Wi-Fi is often faster than cellular data networks. Wi-Fi networks cover limited areas. iPhone can join AirPort and other Wi-Fi networks at home, at work, or at Wi-Fi hot spots around the world.

First make sure wi fi switch on laptop is turned on.
MAke sure wi fi network adapter driver installed and enable.
Right click on my network places so you can see your wi fi network adapter there if it is installed .
Right click on it then enable.
Then again right click on it then click on view for available wi fi networks.
Then it find network if any wi fi router is in range.
Then click on connect.

Youe broadband router is working ok with the broadband cable.So it is configured with the broadband cable.Now,to work with the wireless internet,you have to configured the wi-fi router to work internet.You can see the wi-fi connection but unless & untill you will configure wi-fi router it must not work or if before it was working with the wi-fi then you can check the wi-fi router setting because it might change by mistake.Surely it will work after configurating wi-fi router.

I think it is saying that the wifi "card" is set so that it is not being configured by windows.

In XP

Control panel > Network connections

Under LAN or High-speed internet you will see an icon labelled wireless network connection. Right click on this and then click properties. You will see three tabs at the top
General - Wireless Networks - Advanced

Click on wireless networks
There should be a tick-box saying Use windows to configure my wireless network settings. I expect that, in your case, the box is unticked which means that the software supplied by the vendor of the wifi card is configuring the settings. I find that it is usually more reliable to let windows do it.

So tick the box and click OK. You may then have to reboot.
