There will be no screen drivers or WiFi drivers withon XP so I am sorry but it will not work. Win7 can be run in XP mode, read the info by pressing F1 for the help files.
Hope that helps.

WDDM Compatible Drivers

Most of the drivers are available on toshiba website but looks like your laptop may not be compatible with windows 7. You will probably end up changing laptop or stay with xp if you don't see them on toshiba support area.

Toshiba satelite l655 wont boot windows or safe mode

The hard drive has failed, or windows has corrupted files. If you made a backup cd installation disc that would be the next step to try and load windows, if no change! the hardware needs to be tested for possible replacement.

hi Mike.
this is all i could find.
Try the following...

1. Power off the laptop.
2. Power on the laptop.
3. As soon as you see the rotating loading circle, press and hold the Power Button until the computer shuts off.
4. Repeat this process a few times until you see the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen.
5. Now you want to let the laptop boot to the "Automatic Repair" screen.
6. Click "Advanced Options" and then select "Troubleshoot".
7. Here you want to select "Refresh your PC", if you do not wish to erase data, or "Reset your PC" to erase all data and restore your system.
8. From here just follow the screen instructions until the recovery is completed.

NOTE: You will need to get into the "Advanced Options" in order to get the "Refresh Option". This choice will keep your data, but any programs installed will be lost.

Do not do a "Reset" as that will wipe all data you have on the laptop.

Where did you get your drivers from? Make sure the drivers are compatible with Windows XP, Vista/7 drivers generally won't work. You can probably get the XP drivers from Toshiba's website.

Dear Friend,

This happens when the keyboard configuration is change from English to another language. You can check this by clicking on Start> Control Panel> Region and Language Options (XP) or Start> Control Panel> Clock, Language and Region then click on Change keyboards or other input methods and Change Keyboard Language (Windows 7).
