Hi sewallgood,
I will try to give you a few suggestions to help solve this problem. I see you have replaced the piston and rings. Did you hone the cylinder wall before installing the new piston and rings so the new rings can properly seal ? Have you checked the compression after installing the new piston and rings? Did you have instructions on how to properly clean and install a new carb kit, as it is very important to get it right on? Have you cleaned or replaced the air filter? When working on the carb, did you replace the very fine mesh filter that is located inside the carb? What can cause the engine to run just a few seconds, can be the fuel tank not venting. As fuel is being removed from the tank, air has to replace the volume of fuel removed. This is usually done by the fuel tank cap that has a 1 way valve that lets air in without fuel leaking out. Some others have the valve installed on the fuel tank itself. Check the valve for obstructions or if damaged. Being careful try running the saw with the cap loose and see what happens. There could be an air leak somewhere, affecting fuel mixture, (gaskets, loose bolts, etc.). Something that not too many people check is carbon build up at the exhaust port that will restrict exhaust gasses causing too much back pressure. This can stop high RPM from the saw. Remove the muffler and clean the carbon from the port. Set the piston at top dead center so carbon does not go into the crankcase and use either wood or plastic tool so piston and cylinder wall are not damaged.
To adjust the carburetor turn both mixture needles in (clockwise) until lightly seated so no damage is done to seat or needle. Now turn the 2 needles out (counterclockwise) about 1 1/8 turns. While engine running and warmed up, adjust until running good. Do not adjust high speed mixture needle too lean turned in (clockwise) too much, as this could cause not enough lube or cooling and damage the engine. Do not adjust lower than 1 turn from a lightly seated position.
Adjust the spark plug to .030". I hope I have given you a few good suggestions and that it is understandable. Any questions welcome. All the best and good luck.

I put regular gas to my ryobi c4620. Chain saw. And know it won't start I check tne spark plug has spark I put mix gas still won't start is there something I can do to get this chain saw to start

when you put un mixed fuel into a tool that needs to have mixed fuel/oil (the oil acts as a lubricant) and the tool will run on no lube for a little bit but it quickly damages the rotating metal parts inside the tool , most times the cylinder/piston is the most effected by this , ive replaced a few pistons when this occurs , and sometimes it allows it run again , but its never as good as new again

How do I find an owner's manual for Olympyk chain saws?

Check the compression on it. If under 120 psi it probably needs a rebuild. If it has good compression put a spoonful of fuel mix into the carb throat or sparkplug hole and try it. If it hits a few times the fuel system needs attention. Joe

Cannot start husq 340 have spark but no combustion even if put gas in spark plug hole. have new spark plug

The engine may be flooded--take the plug out, turn the saw upside down, and pull the starter rapidly a few times with the throttle full on. If flooded, a fuel spray will likely come out of the plug hole. Make sure the ignition is OFF when doing this--you don't need a fuel fire! Is the spark at the plug blue and snappy (plug gap set to 0.020")? Replace the plug and see if it will run. Make sure the air filter is clean. Hope this helps!

I have an old mac 110, how do I change the points,if it has any, or tune it up???

I am not sure how old a 110 is. The usual thing to do is remove the carburetor and clean it. That means removing the bottom of it too. Carefully done! clean it with gas in a small can if really dirty or if it is clean then dont even remove it. Remove the spark plug and squirt some marvel mystery oil in the cylinder. Not a lot either or too little. Enough to make it enough to circle the cylinder. Tip it up so the oil will run down the cylinder wall. Then after a while you will be able to safely move the piston in the cylinder by pulling the crank rope easy. then once this is done you can pull the rope faster until the oil is pushed out by the air going in and out of cylinder. Now put a new spark plug in and gap the plug to the proper specs. Before you actually put the spark plug in, you need to attach the coil wire to it and make sure the base of the plug is touching the metal on the cylinder wall. Crank on the saw and see if you have any spark to the plug. If so proceed on. You need a spark and fuel to make it work. If you have the spark all is left is the fuel. You will need to mix a new batch of chain saw oil-gas mix to the gas. make sure you mix it exactly as possible. Over mix it and it will smoke like crazy and not be good for it. Eventually it will build up gunk in the exhaust and fall back into the cylinder and ruin it. Same thing if you don't mix enough, you r saw wont get lubricated properly and ruin it. It gets its lubrication through the gas mix. After you run the saw for a while, always look at the exhaust screen. The color of it indicates if your saw is running properly. If it is white it is running hot. meaning not enough oil in the mix and improperly tuned at the carburetor meaning running lean. The color should be brown, not white or black. I would hope you empy old gas from saw first. Put new mixed gas in, just a little and swirl it around abit then dump it out. Now you can refill. Oh inside the fuel tank is a filter at the bottom of the hose. That needs to be changed if it is bad. If it is it wont let gas in. Also make sure the gas cap vent hole is not plugged. Choke it and try and start it. Once it cackles then move the choke to half way or off. try it again. It helps to have a bit of throttle while doing this. Once it is running it should smoke a bit from the marvel mystery oil, but that is OK. Once you have run it for a while say about 10 minutes, then give it the throttle real fast. Does it die or does it speed up? If it wants to die then turn the low speed screw on the carb slightly to the left and try again until when you hit the throttle it is responsive. Now rev it up a bit, but don't let it scream. Now adjust the high speed screw on the carb until it speeds up to not cackling anymore then turn it back ccw until it starts to blubber again. Right at that point between the two and just slightly ccw. This keeps it from screaming (running too fast). That will be too much for it and get it hot and ruin it. while running it, when cutting something, always let it come up for air so to speak. That means let up for a second and hit the throttle again. also this usually gives a slight puff of smoke each time you do this, which is also helping to lubricate the cylinder and also gives it a chance to cool down a second or two. Never stick you chain in the dirt or it will not be sharp anymore. chains cannot cut dirt, not even the slightest. If you ever touch the dirt while the saw is running, it is time to sharpen the saw again. Hope this helps. You don't need to change points and such like a car. Indeed older saws had points but newer ones do not. Even then you only needed to clean the points with a small point file and the then regap them to proper specs. So all in all a tune up is really not much. a good cleaning and a new plug, Maybe a new starter rope etc. Hope this gives you some idea on how to do it. You should be fine.

Doesn't want to start. Replace carb and ran for few seconds, Make you think that it is not getting gas, but pouring gas into spark plug does not help and drying spark plug dose not help. Spark appears...

The spark should be blue and snappy. Try a new plug--any help? If not, it may need a new ignition module. Check the flywheel magnets--they should be quite strong. The module gap with the magnets underneath the poles should be about business card thickness. Check the air cleaner and muffler for plugging. Hope this gets it running!

Chain saw emitted sparks and now does not start.

Hi

When the engine get warm and die(I suppose)check the spark at the sparkplug. You can let the saw run until it ran out of gas and you will not distroy the engine.Change the sparkplug.
