The power went out at my house several days agon and now my when I go to open my garage door it only raises up about 1' then goes back and forth for about 6-8 times before opening all the way. Did the power surge blow a part? Can I easily replace this?

I have a similar problem with Craftsman model# 139.53985 garage door opener. The power went out, power came back on, opened GD with keypad, now it won't close. When you push the button on remote or wall mount console you hear one click and nothing happens. Tried resetting PIN, no luck. What can I do?

Check the light beam safety at the door's bottom, to see if something is getting in the line of sight.

I recently bought a Chamberlain 3/4 hp belt drive MyQ garage door opener. I had an old garage door that I thought was bad, I'm not sure now. The old door opener would lift the door about a 1ft to a 1 1/2ft...

How is the door balanced currently? In manual setting (without the opener) can it be raised by hand, will it hold at it's halfway point, and will it hold at fully open?

These all have to be be in balance before adding the opener.

I just replaced my rollers (Ideal Security SK7123 1 7/8-in Deluxe Nylon Rollers Commercial Grade 11 Ball Bearings) and they made a world of difference to quietness and opening. Plus, more importantly, they gave me clues as to the RHS being misaligned.

There are several videos out there dealing with door side to side imbalances also.

I have a Craftsman 1/2 HP Garage Door Opener, Model 139.18076 or thereabouts. One day the door went up and it didn't come back down without me detaching and closing it manually. The motor hums/clicks...

Check to see if the trolley is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor housing. If it is, loosen the chain enough to take the stress off and then run the opener until the door closes. While the door is closed locate the 'down limit' on the side of the motor unit and turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

Have a Craftsman 1/2 HP auto gargae doors. Lost power during a snow storm. Once power was reconnected only thing that did not work was garage doors. Is there a reset button somwhere....can't see one.

There isn't a reset button. Check the house circuit breaker. You may have had a power surge and that can damage the logic board printed circuit. Check the logic board for missing or burnt traces especially around the small transformer.

Model # of my garage door 2280-267C serial #26142100151

Check your door springs to make sure one hasn't broken. Then remove the cover off the motor unit and check the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. It will be obvious if it is going bad.

We had a power blink during the night and the next day our garage door wouldn't go down, with the remote or even the house button, unless we hold down the house button until the door is completely down. No...

sounds like a problem in, i want to say the motor, but it opens fine, check your spring assembly, check your chain, and lastly, replace your opener, BUT FIRST, check to see if your garage door opener has a lock feature. most of them do, it disables all wireless remotes. if its only responding to the push of a wired button, then it may be in lock mode, find your manual. the lock button may be on the opener unit or the wall unit

Changing the code on outside keypad of a Liftmaster model 7220.

push he little red or green button on the back of the operner and then within 30 sec. press the four numbers and enter on your keyless entry. the light on the opener should blink twice. Have a nice day once you hit this new 4 number code your old one is gone.

Garage door opened, won't close

If you can press and hold the wall button and the door will go down, you have a photo eye issue. Check the photo eyes at the bottom of the door.

Chamberlian garge door opener only closes by holding down wall push button,no lights at safty sensors

Probably a broken wire to one of the sensors. Holding down the wall button overrides the sensors.

If you move the wires at the back of the power unit and at the sensors watch for the sensor lights to flicker. - If they do the wires you just moved are the problem.

If moving the wires doesn't help you will need to trace the wires & watch for a broken wire loose connection etc.

Hope this helps

Garage door opener

I was having a problem with the remotes. Program one remote, and the other stops working and vice-versa. I found the solution to be as follows: Using 61LM single-button remotes for Lift-master WhisperDrive (belt drive) garage door opener, I set the dipswitches (find them by removing battery replacement cover) to identical settings in both remotes. Set the first dipswitch to the neutral (0) setting. Next -- and this is the important part -- press the learn button on the main door opening unit, and, while the small LED light is lit, press the button on ONE of the remotes. DO NOT REPEAT ON THE SECOND REMOTE. Upon doing this, I found that BOTH remotes at last worked. I then went on to program a keyless entry pad, which was accomplished by again pressing the learn button on the main unit, and then entering the number sequence I had chosen for my entry code on the keypad, and pressing Enter. Both remotes continued to function and the keypad functions as well.
