The Cateye ec t220 treadmill in our exercise room no longer has a functioning display. Nothing lights up. It is possible a power surge blew out a main circuit or something of that nature- we are on a remote island in Alaska and need to fix it ourselves or throw the entire unit away- shipping it out costs more than a new treadmill.

If your treadmill was struck by a power surge unfortunately there is no way of fixing it, in fact it is a fire HAZARD. Basically a back-flow of electrical current has fried the appliance from the inside.
A good way of checking if this was the problem is to check smaller appliance's around the house that were plugged in around the same time the treadmill stopped working. Even if appliences are turned off at the switch they can still be effected.
If you have no problems with any smaller appliance then we can more or less rule out a power surge. Have you tried dissembling the plug, changing the fuse, moving the treadmill them plugging it in to a different socket? .......yes?
