5 red flashes is a bad panel connection or internal panel short, very carefully take the panel connectors off and reseat them and see if that helps, unfortunately you may have a bad panel.

Appears there is an issue with the power supply if unit is totally dead.

There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset; and the other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. There is no other way, than contact the authorized service center for Sony. You can't get it from nowhere else.

Your problem has nothing to do with the STK chip. The system on off is controlled by a microprocessor. The same chip controls the clock. You could be having a power supply problem. Check the 5V supply form the PSU board. Look into the STK only if you have a sound problem .

I had same problem with my HP dv9922us. it is ether the power switch or the motherboard overheated and cooked. wish i had better news but there are not much to laptops.

I had one with the same symptoms, the way i fixed it is by taking it all apart and resolder the system chasis grounds on the mother board, then reseting the motherboard's memory battery. A bit complicated for those with little knowledge on computer repair. You may have to take it to a computer shop, or try fixing it yourself. It took a while to figure it out.

There is a power button on top of the tv. There are 6 buttons on the top of the tv and the power button is the one on the right. They are located about the center of the TV.
