Give it the key, if you have one. If you purchased the product, the key will be on the package. On the other hand, if you are using the time-limited demo version that came pre-loaded on many computers or you could download from Microsoft, you need to purchase a key to keep using it after the demo period is up. You can't buy keys for Office 2007 from Microsoft now since they want you to buy the 2010 version, but you can find vendors online who still have Office 2007 available.
A second option is to download and install
OpenOffice. OpenOffice is a completely free alternative to Microsoft Office, with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation and drawing programs, and support for many file types. OO can open and edit MS Office docx files, and can create pdf files too. And it doesn't need a key.
